Does anybody know if Yahoo / Google Talk interop will use XMPP?

I have no idea. But given that Yahoo has been experimenting with XMPP in
Yahoo Live, Fire Eagle, etc., it would not shock me. Of course, I don't
know how the Google-AIM interoperability happens, either (is that just a
dual protocol stack in the Google Talk client?).

At the very least, you need an AIM account to use AIM through GTalk, so it's
clearly not federated.
What's interesting is that Yahoo federates with MSN. Somehow I don't see
Microsoft's blessing on a Yahoo<->GTalk federation due to the doors that
would open.
My hopes are on Facebook..
