Jabber / Google Maps Mashup

Ok I've created a bit of a Jabber / Google Maps Mashup that basically grabs your info from your vCard and then plots you in your location on the world map. The fields it uses/displays are:

Nickname - "Full Name" entry from vCard, some clients call this nickname though.
Resource: From your presence info.
Avatar: From your vCard.
Location: From the Locality/Region/Country fields of your vCard, also used to plot you on the map, by looking up your locality's coordinates.
Status: From your presence info.
Status Message: From your presence info.

Unlike other existing "Jabber maps" this one is fully automated, so long as you've got your info setup correctly, and doesn't require you to msg your location to the bot or sign into any websites and update your location.

Let's see if we can map out a picture of the worldwide Jabber community. To plot yourself on the map, just add geolocator@jabbering.org to your roster, and of course make sure you have some basic location info in your vCard.

Now it works. One idea which would be cool, instead of the Google Talk icons, use a jabber bulb indicating the status ;)

Good idea, I'll look into doing that.

Looks like a few people had some unexpected stuff in their profiles (like unicode strings) so I had to fix a few bugs, that's why it was done for a little while.

You mean the away/xa/unavailable stuff? I thought they were jabber icons. I got them from Psi, they are the default jabber roster set.
