Identi.ca has launched. It's a microblogging service that runs on AGPL
software and content posted is considered CC BY.
Identi.ca is a microblogging service brought to you by Control
Yourself, Inc.. It runs the Laconica microblogging software, version
0.4.0, available under the GNU Affero General Public License.
Unless otherwise specified, contents of this site are copyright by
the contributors and available under the Creative Commons Attribution
3.0. Contributors should be attributed by full name or nickname.
They've even implemented OpenID right, so that you don't need an
account. And you can post with XMPP! Very free indeed. Goodbye Twitter.

Of to auth against any kind of API for OpenID users they're going to need
tokens... or preferrably OAuth...! ;)
Oh, and here's a Fail Whale for your enjoyment:

I'll be interested to see how they handle federation of Laconica
instances...

Well, the IM interface is a bit off. They didn't setup the proper SRV
records yet.
I've sent them an email, but if someone knows someone there, they
might give them a nudge?

What's wrong with the SRV records? The guy to ping is Evan:
http://identi.ca/evan
But he's pretty busy right now. ;-)

They where missing. Evan contacted me in the morning and it got
sorted out.

Well I think he's on this list so don't say anything nasty. :) He's
doing a great job so far, I think, given the traffic he's seeing.
