This is also the case if you want to remember places that your group of
people know: For example, you can be interested to know that you are at home
or at the office. This is what our OneTeam mobile client does or what the
Jaiku mobile client does.

Shouldn't you be sending the "I am at home/office" information using
XEP-0080? It already has a bunch of appropriate fields. Otherwise the remove
mobile client would need to know how to map cellid's to "home/office"
somehow.



I suppose there are applications that you can think of where you need to
know the actual cellid, but I would imagine the vast majority of real world
cases are going to map it to something else that is already covered in
XEP-0080.

The idea is to map on the server, yes. You know the few cells that
represent the office for example. Then, you can map it to the "at
office" location on the server side, without having to map that on
every cell phone in the company.
You can then, have a screen for the secretary that can get the list of
people at the office for example. No need to have much intelligence in
the client for that.
